Walterre bungalow is strongly recommended for those who want to spend quiet and luxurious time in the lap of nature. The property is only 5 hours away from Delhi. This property is tucked in a jungle overlooking the Mussoorie ridge at back end of the Doon Valley. It is isolated but very well connected by road. It is adjacent to Tons river and a beautiful dense Sal forest lies a kilometer away from the property.
It is so quiet that guests in the bungalow can hear people in the adjacent property if they speak loudly or else you would only end up hearing birds, sound of the wind or nothing. Generally, tourists in India run to mountains for leisure. When I talk about mountains, people look for snowline where they can smell Deodar trees or play with the snow. There is no denying the fact that Deodar forests are enchanting but lower Himalayas are also very beautiful. If you want to feel, absorb and see the beauty of the Doon Valley and lower Himalayas then Walterre is the place for you.
Your eyes will not tire of the shades of green which surrounds this beautiful property. The staff is attentive and cook surprises you every time with the food. The property is luxurious and exhibits class. The bungalow has 4 rooms and feels lived. The bungalow experience is like home stay or living in friend’s property whose staff is running around to pamper you.
This character of the property is very enticing. As I said that you get the feeling of homestay rather than of a hotel. Every room is richly done, and walls are adorned with beautiful paintings and pictures. My experience has been limited to winters but I’m eagerly waiting for the summers as I would like to absorb the beauty of this place in full gush of Monsoons when rivers overflow and every part of the forest bursts into green.
I recommend pepper chicken with a dash of cream in Walterre. Last time I visited the property, I did not step outside and spent 80 percent of the time on the porch which has a lovely view of Mussoorie ridge.
Lastly, bathrooms are well done and furniture, a classic ethnic. Rooms are spacious and well maintained. Book readers will find a well-stocked library. For Winters you have a fireplace and the porch is for every season and to kill for. So, if you want to enjoy the beauty of lower Himalayas and Doon valley then, Walterre is the place for you.
