ITINERARY

Day 01: Delhi to Lansdowne

Meals: Lunch & Dinner

You will be met and taken to Lansdowne (7-8 hours) in a comfortable car (or you may opt for a day journey by train), a journey that takes you on one of the most spectacular mountain roads as we climb the Garhwal Hills on our way to this delightful hill-station. In the afternoon we bird with a professional guide near and around the lodge. Our overnight stay is at Fairydale Cottage.

Specialty birds include: Red Crossbill, Striated, Variegated and Chestnut-headed laughingthrushes, Plain-backed, Long-tailed, Mistle and Siberian thrushes. Black and Yellow and Collared grosbeaks.

Day 02: Lansdowne

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner

Today we bird around Lansdowne and Jehrikhal. Overnight stay.

Specialty birds include: Long-tailed Broadbill, Red Crossbill, Red-billed Blue Magpie, Kalij Pheasant. Eurasian and Black-headed jays and four varieties of barbets.

Day 03: Lansdowne to Dhautiyal

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner

Drive in the morning to Dhautiyal (2 hours) stopping en route for birding. Overnight stay in a cottage – Magpie by the stream. www.magpiecottage.in

Specialty birds include: Nepal Wren Babbler, Black-backed, Small and Spotted forktails, and nine types of woodpeckers. Eurasian Goldfinch, Plumbeous and White-capped redstarts, five species of sunbirds and several types of babblers.

Day 04: Dhautiyal

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner

In the morning we bird around the lodge and its adjoining river the Tauns. Overnight at Magpie.

Specialty birds include: Red Junglefowl, Chestnut-headed Tesia, Indian Blue Robin, Puff-throated babbler, Tibetan Blackbird and several species of fly-catchers including the Slaty-backed.

Day 05: Dhautiyal to Dehradun

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner

Drive to Dehradun (5-6 hours). You will have the option to go river rafting on the Ganges.

Overnight stay in Walterre.

Full day birding in and around Walterre. Overnight stay.

Day 07: Dehradun to Delhi
